Episode 9 - Pricing Yourself

LISTEN NOW: ITUNES

It's hard to determine what to charge for your services, and you don't want to price yourself out of the market or seem unprofessional.

You're not sure what to charge, so you usually just guess. This can lead to you losing money on a job, or worse yet, not making any money at all on a service that took hours to complete.

In this episode, you'll learn that tools are available to help you confidently calculate your prices.

In this episode, I interview Kimberly from Next Level Hair Stylist, and we are talking about how to raise your prices in a "scientific" way. We discuss the importance of value-based pricing and how to determine what your services are worth. We also talk about how to communicate your new prices to your clients and how to handle resistance. If you are thinking about raising your prices or want to learn more about pricing strategies, this episode is for you.

Kimberly is the founder of Next Level Hair Stylist, a company that provides systemized pricing solutions for hairstylists. She has developed two pricing calculators - the Perfect Pricing Calculator and the Hair Extension Pricing Calculator - to help stylists price their services for success. Kimberly has over 15 years of experience in the hair industry and is passionate about helping stylists grow their businesses and reach their full potential.

Just do the Math

Knowing how to calculate your prices is going to make you feel more confident in dealing with your clients. You will know that you didn’t just guess how much services should cost and that the prices you are quoting are based on real costs. By factoring in your time (which is money) and the costs of the product you are using, you can ensure that you are charging fair but profitable prices for your services.

Don’t Be Afraid to Charge What You’re Worth

Hair stylists should be proud that they can charge whatever the market will bear because it's a reflection of how much people value their services. When we start worrying too much about losing clientele, then those fears hold us back from doing what needs to happen for business growth- which is charging what we are worth.
